Will the Molson family rebuild the Habs?
Why would they do that? They didn’t do it between 1980 and 2001 when they owned the team then. Sadly, the men who bought the team, have only a fraction of the resources that Gillette had, and the corporate portion of the ownership (MolsonCoors still retains their approx 20%) still has 50% of the votes. I was happy that members of the Molson family bought Gillette’s share out, because it puts the team back in Canadian hands. I was disappointed however that the Brewery wouldn’t sell their share back to the family because I think it would be better in one set of hands than two. I was also disappointed that it was the Molson family that was the buyers because they did very little to keep this franchise alive when they controlled the brewery when it owned the team.
