Will iAS run under Windows 2000 ?
AIt has been reported to work by a number of people, although it is not officially supported. There are a number of complications with using it in a non-networked development system, (e.g., a laptop) all relating to the fact that iAS needs a real IP number to communicate between processes on (i.e.,notlocalhost). Windows 2000 does not activate network interfaces if there is not a `real’ network connection. You can get around this problem by installing the `loopback’ network device that is supplied with Windows 2000. This can be assigned any IP number you want, and iAS will accept this as a valid IP number. You should do thisbeforeinstalling iAS, because the only way to fix it afterwards is to fiddle with the registry. And the IP number appears in over 20 different places in the registry…
