Why was “Brass Eye” postponed?
It was originally set to air in November 1996, but was pulled from the schedules when it was realised that Channel 4 had not been kept fully aware of the nature and extent of some of the hoaxes, and the station management grew concerned that the series could land the station in serious political trouble at a time when the government were making moves to privatise it. It was postponed to allow for further ‘checking’, and duly broadcast in early 1997.
