Why use portable apps?
I have used portable apps for years on past thumb drives (I currently have 3+), they make applications that you commonly use (Firefox namely) available on all machines you plug your thumb drive into. Not only do they keep the application completely on the thumb drive, they also store information on the thumb drive. For example, if you like to keep your bookmarks, history, plug-ins, etc. with your Firefox browser at all times, even when you switch computers, portable apps are for you. No matter what computer you plug your thumb drive into, all of the preferences, bookmarks, etc are instantly available for you to use. Now there are exceptions, if you have a Mac portable app, then you can only use it for Macs, and the same goes for Windows, Linux, etc. Now portable apps are not just for browsers like Firefox, there is a vast catalog of portable apps available on the Internet, everything from browsers (like Firefox, Opera, etc), to IM clients (like Trillian and Skype), to word processing s
