The East Room (020 7065 6842; www.thstrm.com), in Tabernacle Street, is relaxing and the atmosphere very girl-friendly, as opposed to a lot of other bars in the City that have the feeling of a locker room or exclusive gentleman’s club. The lounge bar is only open to members and their guests (membership is about £150 per year). If I’m up for a big night, I can head on to clubs in the vicinity, including Sosho (www.sosholondon.com) on Tabernacle Street and The Light Bar (www.thelighte1.com) on Shoreditch High Street.
