Why Take Drum Lessons?
Learning to play an instrument can be a lot of fun. But did you know there are other benefits to learning the drums (or any musical instrument)? • Unlike some sports activities, music is an extra curricular endeavor that carries virtually no chance of injury. • Students also learn how to discipline themselves to practice the instrument and often develop better study habits for other subjects as a result. • Some studies have shown that students who take music in middle school and high school, do better on important standardized tests, such as the SAT or ACT. • Music is also a means of self-expression and leads to higher self-esteem. Some drummers are entirely self-taught and choose not to take lessons. It’s great for drummers to learn by listening to recordings and playing along to their favorite music, but self taught drummers often underestimate the importance of learning to read music.
