While there is no cost associated with the HANDLE.NET software itself, a fee structure for providing resolution services is necessary to cover operational costs for running the Global Handle Registry (GHR). This helps to insure the overall integrity of the Handle System. (See Resolution Services Providers for more information. ) The agreement is also meant to ensure that prefixes are used in a manner that does not disrupt or interfere with the overall operation of the Handle System.
