Why is parental support and commitment so important to the athlete”s success in the TASBA program?
Parental support is critical to a young person’s development. Baseball is an Art, Art can be taught, therefore the sport of baseball can become a TEACH. Players learn at an early age by 3 types of learning: Auditoria / Visual and Kinesthetic. Parental support during this time of personal / athletic / spiritual development is directly reflected in their progression. It is much easier to train a 5-6-7 year old, who is just learning to throw and catch, hit etc than it is for a 14-15-16 yr old who has so many bad habits that he can’t begin to figure out where to begin in the training process. Parents can also be unrealistic in their sons’ skill level, but if they understand their role in the process, then they see real gains. Let them learn by doing, trying, supporting.
