Why doesnt Cold Mastery increase damage?
Cold Mastery does not increase the damage of cold skills, but rather lowers the resistance of enemies to you cold skills. It works by multiplying the cold resistance of target monsters. Therefore, it cannot actually lower the cold resistance of monsters to 0, or below 0. So how does Cold Mastery help me? Is it useful? The formula for Cold Mastery is: (Base Cold Resist) (Base Cold Resist X Cold Mastery %) = New enemy cold resistance. As stated above, this formula cannot lower a monsters resistance below 0, or to 0. It also only affects cold-resistant monsters. This makes it the least useful mastery out of the three, as it can only affect about 5% of the total monsters in the game. Due to its diminishing returns, its better to just put only one point in Cold Mastery. Anything over 5 base skill points is certainly a waste.
