Why does there need to be a phone line or Broadband Internet connection plugged into my Satellite receiver?
There doesn’t have to be a phone line plugged into the back of your receiver anymore. With so many people no longer having land lines fees associated with this have been eliminated. However, both Dish and Direct like to have phone lines or an Ethernet connection plugged into the back of your receivers for ease in paying bills and ordering pay per view programming, downloading movies and other on demand programming. It allows for a more interactive experience with your provider. Having broadband connectivity to your satellite receiver futures you for downloading programming and other content off the internet. This is the way of the future. Just like 3D is slowly making its way into the home so is TV programming via the internet.
