The MS-DOS real-mode device driver is probably not installed. A copy may be loaded from this page (see question 1 for installation instructions.) The installation program installs the device driver VIDE-CDD.SYS into the file CONFIG.SYS and the MS-DOS driver MSCEDEX.EXE into AUTOEXEC.BAT. This causes the drivers to be loaded each time the PC is booted. Alternatively, some memory may be saved while Windows 95 is running by removing MSCDEX.EXE from AUTOEXEC.BAT and installing it in the file DOSSTART.BAT. It is run each time a DOS window is started or the PC is restarted in DOS mode.
