Why do some accounts need to have a VAT USE CODE 100?

There are four accounts at UBC that require you to enter a VAT Use Code of 100 ( to indicate that 100% of the GST should be rebated ). If you do not enter this code you will see an error message like this one: To add the VAT Use Code you click the SUT/VAT/Intrastat’ hyperlink (located just to the right of the Extended Amt’ box). This will bring you to the screen shown to the left below. In the second section down (Value Added Tax), the first item is Use Type’, this defaults to TAX’, change it to 100′, shown in the screen shot, below and right.
