Why do I have to notify the Animal Health when I use a General Licence/authorisation?

0

The importation into the UK or EU of animal products can pose a human or animal health risk and therefore needs to be controlled. Whilst our general licences/authorisations cover products which are of negligible risk to human or animal health, we understand that if a disease outbreak were to occur in the exporting country, the negligible risk status of these products may change. We therefore require the importer to notify us of the import so that we know what kind of material is being imported under general licences/authorisations so we can contact you should we need to if a disease outbreak occurs. You should email Animal Health, each time that you have used a general licence/authorisation. Please ensure you include contact details, product details, dates and destination address. For regular importers a separate arrangement may be agreed with Animal Health Import Team, Chelmsford.
