Why did the Igbo Presidency project fail?
Governor Kalu: There was no love among Igbo people. In fact, a lot of Igbo people wanted the same thing (being president) at the same time. Frankly, in any system, there are people who are supposed to win elections and there people who are supposed to run the government, and still there are those who are supposed to manage the economy. Igbo people are just thinking that the best of our academicians will be the best politicians, it is not done that way anywhere in the world. Politics is about today and tomorrow. It is about the future. If politics is about the future, Igbo people must show themselves love first. In all ramifications there is no love between Igbos in all the Igbo States. When I was amplifying the ‘Igbo Presidency’ agenda people thought I was selfish. They thought I was doing it for myself.
