Why did Clive decide to restore the home?
The Historical Society was formed by a group of people who wanted to make sure that we remembered our history. When Mildred Swanson passed away, she left the property to the city to be used as a park. The city came to us and asked if we would be interested in restoring and managing the store. For us it was a great opportunity as we were looking for a place to move the depot and caboose to. So the two situations were joined and we certainly were thrilled to be able to make the house back into a General Store.
