Why are laptops called notebooks?
They used to be exclusively called laptops until more and more people started burning themselves on them (why anyone would keep something that hot on them for long enough to burn them beats me) The smaller ones are called netbooks because they are capable of little more then wordprocessing and net browsing (there isnt really a gamers version of the netbook)
They were called notebooks because they were portable and closed at the center so they looked like a notebook. Users developed the slang term “Laptop” because they could use them on their laps when traveling, say, on a plane, or train or bus. Now the terms are interchangeable. So actually, your question should read, “Why are notebook computers called laptops?
LOL people are so dumb… no offence. they call them notbooks now because people would be putting thier “LAPtops” on their LAPS lol, and this causes overheating issues and pretty much ***** the laptops. they anme them notebooks now to cover the companys own *** so you pretty much cant sue them. think about it.
