Why are animals fed on hay instead of just the original grass?
Most animals eat grass, horses, cows, sheep but all hay is dried grass. Of course there is also green feed hay and alfalfa hay. In the spring when the new grass comes we limit the time our sheep and horses have in the pasture as it is very high in nutrients and can make them sick, The sheep bloat and can die. But once they are used to it again they eat grass until winter when we feed them alfalfa mixed with grass hay.
