All book industry trading partners are encouraged to convert ISBN-10s to ISBN-13s (and visa versa) as needed to accommodate their internal system requirements and particular position within the ISBN-13 transition.After January 1, 2007, however, only ISBN-13s should be stored and sent between trading partners to communicate the book identifier.
