The intent of these funds is to provide another level of support to Texas students who are struggling in reading and/or mathematics so they will be able to meet the grade advancement requirements of the Student Success Initiative and master grade level curriculum expectations. TEC ยง28.0211, requires districts to provide accelerated (intensive) instruction to a student after he or she has not met the passing standard after the second administration of the reading or math TAKS in Grade 8, the reading or math TAKS in Grade 5, or the reading TAKS in Grade 3. The programs in this grant may be used for these purposes.
