Who really killed JFK?
I was in 8th grade….I still have the piece of notebook paper written in class the moment it was announced that President Kennedy was shot it says: “November 22, 1963 President John F. Kennedy was shot in the right temple and the Govenor of Texas was shot in the wrist and chest. President Kennedy died a half hour after he was shot (which was the news at the time). The President was shot around 12:30 in Dallas, Texas. today, November 22, 1963 is a Friday. God Bless President Kennedy.” I really thought the world was going to come to an end that day. Everyone in my school and in my small town was crying and sobbing. I remember the weather too…it was a bright, sunny November day in Long Island.
This week, Artvoice’s Cy Alessi interviewed attorney and author Vincent Bugliosi who was in Buffalo this week to deliver a talk at Daemen College. Bugliosi is best known as the LA deputy district attorney who successfully prosecuted Charles Manson and his “family” of the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others. He later wrote a book about the trial called Helter Skelter. After the aquital of O.J. Simpson, Bugliosi wrote the bestseller Outrage, criticizing the prosecutor, the defense team and the judge. And in 2001, Bugliosi published The Betrayal of America: How the Supreme Court Undermined the Constitution and Chose Our President. This week’s interview focuses on Bugliosi’s most recent book, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which was published in May. There are many schools of thought on this topic. Was it the Mafia leader that was pissed off that John turned little brother loose on the mafia after using them to get the unions to vote for JFK? Was it LBJ who got rid of him? There was no love lost between them Was it actually Lee Harvey Oswald going on orders from the communist to pay him back for the murder of Marilyn Monroe who was also to been know to hang with Communist. The FBI warned JFK of Marilyns ties and he ignored them. Was it the CIA for his debacle on the Bay of Pigs? He also insulted Frank Sinatra (who had very close ties to the mafia) and snubbed Sammy Davis Jr because he was black. JFK created a whole lot of enemies. So your guess is as good as mine.
