WHO OWNS THE ZOO?
The City of Oakland owns the land and physical assets of the Oakland Zoo. The East Bay Zoological Society manages the Zoo and has made improvements to the physical assets such as the Maddie’s Center for Science and Environmental Education, the Wayne and Gladys Valley Children’s Zoo, and numerous other enhancements to animal exhibits and visitor facilities for the benefit of the citizens of the City of Oakland and all who visit from throughout the region.
