What is Evan Williams? You know that you know. Evan Williams is the cousin to Jim Belushi’s college favorite: Jack Daniel’s. That’s right – cheap bourbon whiskey is the cure all for any college sickness, illness or ailment. This is of course with the exception of herpes. Cheap bourbon whiskey can actually perpetuate herpes as well as other STDs. I came to this conclusion before a concert the other weekend. After I witnessed a student who spent a day vomiting everything they ate that day, I watched the same student take a shot of the cheapest bourbon whiskey they could buy at the bar. Miraculously, they then felt great. I realized, in the middle of an acoustic set, modern medicine is missing a crucial link. Now, under no circumstances should someone use medicine irresponsibly or abuse medicine, such as whiskey. But I cannot deny its influence on a college student’s health. College students are cheap, so is whiskey. College students get sick often, and whiskey is always readily available
Evan Williams recently took over the reigns of Twitter. Williams, @ev on Twitter, has a history of founding some fantastic services. Williams has co-founded at least three companies, worked for Google, and has been named in People of the Year in 2004 by PC Magazine and was listed as one of Business Week’s 25 Most Influential People on the Web in 2008. To say he is a leader would be an understatement. When with Pyra Labs, Williams saw a spin-off product called Blogger come from the company’s project management software. Pyra Labs (and subsequently Blogger) were acquired by Google in 2003. Fast forward to late 2006, when Williams and Biz Stone founded Obvious Corp, and later formed Twitter Inc with Jack Dorsey. When Twitter was started, Williams was the CEO of Obvious, but later handed Twitter’s CEO position over to Dorsey.
