Who is a PIO?
A citizen of a foreign country (other than a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) is a PIO if: • He/She at any time held an Indian Passport OR • He/She or either of his parents or any of his/her grandparents was a citizen of India OR • Spouse (not being a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) of an Indian citizen (a) or (b) above.
A person of Indian origin means an individual (not being a citizen of Pakistan or Bangladesh or Sri Lanka or Afghanistan or China or Iran or Nepal or Bhutan) who: i) held an Indian Passport at any time, or ii) who or whose father or paternal grand father was a citizen of India by virtue of the Constitution of India or the Citizenship Act, 1955.
A citizen of a foreign country (other than a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) is a PIO if: • He/She at any time held an Indian Passport. OR • He/She or either of his parents or any of his/her grandparents was citizen of India; OR • Spouse (not being a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) of an Indian citizen (a) or (b) a bove.
