Who can contribute to a Roth IRA?
The ability to establish a Roth IRA is contingent upon having earned income and is subject to income limits. Single taxpayers can contribute the full $2000 if their taxable income is $95,000 or less. The contribution level is reduced above that, and no contributions may be made by singles whose income is over $110,000. The corresponding income levels for married couples filing jointly are $150,000 and $160,000.
