These nuns make a sacred vow to remain behind convent walls, enclosed and unseen in the public, for life. These communities have 2-3 extern sisters, nuns who do not take the Vow of Enclosure. Extern sisters deal with the public, run errands, and drive nuns to medical appointments. Religious Sisters, on the other hand, are not strictly considered nuns in Church Law because they do not take a Vow of Enclosure.
