There are basically 3 types of inground Swimming pools – Shotcrete (concrete) swimming pools, Fiberglass swimming pools and Vinyl Liner swimming pools. While there are a lot of similarities between these types of swimming pools, it is the differences that will steer you toward or away from each one. Below are the major differences listed in a “Pro” and “Con” format. Shotcrete Swimming Pool Pros • Monolithic structure • Unlimited accessory add-on capability (spa, sun shelf, fountain, over sized steps, deck jets, etc….) • Ability to chose from dozens of types and/or colors of plaster interiors Cons • Normally takes the longest of all the swimming pool types to install • Plaster interior is susceptible to chemical imbalances Fiberglass Swimming Pool Pros • Monolithic structure • Quick installation • Smooth gelcoat interior Cons • Limited shape & size availability • Limited interior finish colors • Susceptible to settling issues (especially if not backfilled and/or braced properly) Vinyl L
