Which movie set is the best?
What I loved about the LotR sets is how many of them were “practicals”. They really built Hobbiton, and you can feel that. Oh, they didn’t really dig Bag End out of the side of a hill, but all of the exteriors felt wonderfully real. They found similarly spectacular locations all over New Zealand. Even when they enhanced them digitally (like adding the Argonath, the giant statues on the river Anduin) they were worked into the real landscape as much as possible. You really feel like you can go visit them. In fact, you CAN go visit the Hobbiton set. The Star Wars sets in the prequels were certainly spectacular. Too spectacular, perhaps; they were so magnificent that you never imagined for an instant that they could be real. The original movies were much more interesting to me: Tunisia for Tatooine, Mos Eisley, Hoth, Dagoba
