Which is the best way to convert from 2D drawings (Like AutoCAD) to full 3D, parametric designs?

The best way is to use the original drawings (DXF or DWG) as a base for modeling each part with all pertinent information included in the model. Information like materials, weight, price, part number, used-where etc. can be included right in the parametric model to be used in BOM’s (generated in parametric assemblies), PDF printouts & files, movies, rendered real-life pictures of parts that has not even been built yet.
