Which firewall is better – Symantec Client Security or the Windows firewall included with Windows XP SP2?
The Windows firewall does not provide any alerting or intrusion detection. It also does not offer outbound filtering capabilities. It focuses on preventing attacks from successfully penetrating a system, but it does not protect systems once bad software is locally installed. The Symantec Client Security product integrates their firewall with intrusion detection and antivirus components. It provides more features in the firewall component including better diagnostics and reporting and outbound filtering.
