Which are better, orcs or humans?
The skills of the commander are much more important. Both races are nearly identical until the castle/fortress stage, when the spells arrive. Until that stage, the orcs have slightly easier weapon upgrades at the blacksmith. After the castle stage, the races are somewhat different. Orcs are easier to play effectively, but humans are more subtle and dangerous. A perfectly good orc strategy is to make a whole mess of ogre-mages, run them to edge of the enemy town, cast runes between the enemy hall and mine, bloodlust all the ogres, then run them into town to wreak havok. This, in fact, is one of the best strategies, and commonly used. It’s easy and effective. Humans, on the other hand, can do more things in the control of an intelligent commander. They have a wider variety of useful spells. Holy vision helps a lot with fast reconnaissance, allowing intelligent actions.
