Wheres Cicely?
Q: I am a huge fan of the TV series Northern Exposure. I am very interested in finding out a bit about the location of the filming. What’s the name of the place (assuming it’s not actually called Cicely), and are there many tourists visiting? I’m sorry if this has been asked before! A: Yes, it has been asked many times… The series was filmed in Roslyn, Washington, which is on Washington Highway 903, about 3 miles from Cle Elum. Cle Elum is on Interstate 90 about 22 miles northwest of Ellensburg on the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Population of Roslyn is about 900. It is about 90 miles southeast of Seattle. There is no Alaskan town by the name of Cicely. There are various Alaskan towns that have been suggested as a possible “real” Cicely. Talkeetna probably gets the most votes, but Homer, Chitina, Haines, and Cordova are among the many possibilities.
