Where is the Best Happy Hour in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
The place is really cool inside with the booths, wood, and big bar. Cajun chicken sandwich was good; the mashed potatoes are excellent. I’d go back just for them! My friend had the Little Ricky (4 ribs) and said it was ok but pretty dry. We also had the cornbread, which was also dry. It was still tasty though, and had delicious honey-maple-butter. The manager stopped by a couple times to check on us and got us whatever we asked for. Were there at a slow time, so we got a booth right away and had good service. Biggest problem: location, and therefore, parking.Pros + food, ambiance, serviceCons – parking, location
I have gone to the Liffey many times on Fridays after work for happy hour. They have tasty corn beef and cabbage and serve Finnigans ale. Life is good when sitting on the terrace drinking a fine local beer and having Irish food. I was a waitress for many years before I got my sit-on-my-butt office job and I have a lot of respect for anyone working in a busy restaurant. They have an efficient waitstaff, The only negative thing is that before a Wild game when the place starts to get very busy, it appears that they try to move people out quickly. My co-workers and I have received our bill without asking if we wanted anything else and there were a couple of times that we were not ready to leave and were ready to order another beer. Aside from that, this is a great place to unwind after work and the terrace is the best.
The pork chops are huge, impressive, and way tasty. Being quite large, there is no possible way they could be cooked to order in the time afforded an average patron for dinner. Consequently they are cooked earlier and stored. This seems odd, but it is a common practice with large cuts of meat. Ok, so… I received *my* chop and it was barely warm which was unfortunate because I was quite excited. I sent it back to be reheated and it returned a bit browner but still not warm enough. I almost suggested it be brought up to a core temp of at least 150f but elected to finish it as is. If this chop was to temperature, it would have been the best one I have ever had. The apple and yam side was amazing however the rosemary garnish mildly reeked of mildew. It is the opinion of this writer that a bit more attention to the details would propel this restaurant’s stellar menu to new heights.
This is the first time I’ve tried Trattoria da Vinci, and it was a takeout order. I live in Lowertown and have had enough bummers of overpriced meals. I tend to do a lot of delivery during the week, but it gets old paying the delivery fee and tip only to find they didnt get the order correct.I decided to call Trattoria da Vinci after finding their menu online. I emailed them while I was at work to ask their prefferred method of preorders. Wonders of wonders, they emailed me BACK within a couple of hours. So I gave them a ring and ordered 3 entrees:Spaghetti & Meatballs, Canneloni Ripieni, & Ravioli di Pollo Alla Sorentina.I asked them to have my order ready at 6pm. I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes early. They greeted me and apologized that my food would be ready in 9 minutes and asked if I would like to wait at the bar. They offered me a soda on the house while I waited which I accepted. I spent some time admiring the lovely atmosphere.I received my food exactly on time.
I decided to take my girlfriend to Bar Abilene because they are famous for two of her favorite things, guacamole and margaritas. She always makes guac at home so I trust her opinion, and she said the guac was the best restuarant guac she has had but it could have done without the roasted garlic. Personally, I loved it. We got there around 11 on Friday night, paid $9 for parking across the street. It wasn’t too crowded at all when we got there, but of course that would change after midnight. We took our seats at a booth that was both out of the way and in the mix – if that makes sense. Service was prompt and everything was delivered to us very quickly. Decor was chic and inviting, but I was surprised to see the TVs both displaying a Fox Sports Net fishing show, it was so out of place it was comical. Almost everything (including the Margaritas), was priced between $7.95 and $12.95. The tequila list was extensive, with one shot flights ranging from $6 to $8. Most of the margar
