Where is the Best Happy Hour in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
First time there for lunch today and was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very nice; high ceilings, nice banquettes lining a good portion, very warm hues and nicely done artwork displayed. I ordered the butternut squash bisque, and my husband ordered the smoked chicken chowder. Both were excellent! The chowder had the perfect amount of spice, and my bisque tasted like simply-pureed squash with a dollop of tiny maple croutons, all which led to a great combination. We both ordered the cobb burger. I had read a couple of rave reviews and wanted to try. My husband doesn’t get as excited about food as I, but he loved both of his choices. I did enjoy the burger very much. The burger is served on a thin slice of toast with a small amount of diced avocado and an onion ring on top, surrounded by the makings of a cobb salad–diced hard-boiled egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and blue cheese. Four of us went for a Christmas season dinner to enjoy some conversation and good seafood. This was our third visit to M & S, and we were quite happy with almost everything. The best thing on the table was the beet salad – a phenomenal salad, closely followed by a awesome bowl of clam chowder, and the scallop/risotto appetizer. Entrees we shared were the 1 1/4 # lobster – cooked just right, and the lobster/filet combo plate – both were just right, the filet melted in yor mouth. The stuffed salmon selection was simply wonderful. The least satisfying entre was the proscuitto-wrapped scallop dish. The sauce was nice and spicy as advertized, but the prosciutto and sauce were too salty and overpowered the flavor of the scallops – bummer. Our waiter was great, he recommended a nice bottle of wine, and the desserts were good but not exceptional. This place is a far cry from the Uptown location. Happy hour/lunch time is OK, but the food is overpriced and so are the drinks.At night, stay out if you are not a pedofile or a teenager. The drinks are really expensive (even their specials are not great) and it is so loud your ears ring when you leave.No, I’m not 70 years old, but this place is not appropriate for a group of 20 somethings out to dance and have a good time. The dance floor is so crowded with crusty teens that it is impossible to move, and you stick to the floor anyway.Go somewhere else if you want to talk to the people you are out with, and not get trampled by 18 year olds.Pros + Good happy hour spotCons – bad service, pricy drinks, crowded
