Usually a great place to adopt a pet is at an animal shelter. You can also find some helpful listings on Craigslist.org or Petfinder.com. Petco and PetsMart also offer adoptions for shelter animals (usually on weekends). You should find your local Petco or local PetsMart and find out when they are holding their adoption days.
