Where are dinosaur fossils found?
Dinosaurs must have roamed all over the world in the past. Their footprints have been found in Texas, their eggs in China, and their bones in Australia. The remains of dinosaurs have been discovered on every continent, including Antarctica. The biggest dinosaur on display in a museum was found in Tanzania, Africa. It is a `Brachiosaurus’. Scientists first began to study dinosaur remains in England in the 1820’s. The first dinosaur fossil in North America was found in Colorado in 1877. Later, people from the American Museum of Natural History in New York found a huge collection of fossils near Como Bluff in Wyoming. In 1908 and 1909, Earl Douglass of the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh found a whole skeleton of `Apatosaurus’ near the town of Vernal, Utah. By 1915, he had discovered so many other important fossils, the government decided to preserve the area for the benefit of the whole nation.
