When is a bladder training program used?
Bladder training is a way of working with people who suffer from an urgent need to do small amounts of urine more often than normal, and who may also have urine leakage. This happens if the bladder is very sensitive and overactive with little or no time between the need to go to the toilet and the bladder emptying. This may be due to sicknesses such as stroke, an enlarged prostate gland, Parkinson’s Disease or simply a long history of poor bladder habits. For many people though, no obvious reason can be found. The aim of bladder training is to improve bladder control and increase the amount of urine the bladder can hold without the need to go straight away or leakage of urine.
