When has Voldemort appeared?
Year one: Harry faces Professor Quirrell, who is trying to get the Sorcerer’s Stone/Philosopher’s Stone. Lord Voldemort is living underneath his turban. Year two: Harry meets Tom Marvolo Riddle inside the Chamber of Secrets. As the heir of Slytherin, Tom Riddle later became Lord Voldemort. Year three: Lord Voldemort took a break, but was still in everyone’s thoughts. Wormtail (aka Peter Pettigrew) escaped to return to “his master” at the end. Year four: Lord Voldemort returns to full life in an elaborate graveyard resurrection ceremony involving blood, flesh, and bone. Several Death Eaters are missing. Year five: Lord Voldemort appears at the Department of Mysteries, fights Dumbledore, and escapes. Year six: Lord Voldemort took a break, and the readers were treated to many historical perspectives of how Voldemort became Voldemort. Year seven: Lord Voldemort appears throughout the book, and predominantly at the beginning and end.
