Whats the best way to respond to posters complaining about off-topic posts?
The part at the top of this FAQ about the newsgroup involving “getting to know other King fans” was put in because it was felt that the group’s off-topic posts were an important part of the absk culture. But please do not, in the process of ;getting to know’ other fans, be rude to new King fans who will inevitably complain if they arrive during a heavily ‘off-topic’ time. We can’t get to know other King fans if we are rude to them when they arrive, and we can’t expect them to know off-topic is tolerated, even if it’s in the FAQ. The name of this newsgroup attracts people interested in Stephen King, and they should be kindly treated if their expectations are disappointed by those of us getting to know’ each other. Please reply politely and with understanding instead of just saying ‘Read the FAQ’.
