Whats nutrient density?
A food that’s nutrient dense has a “high concentration” of nutritional elements (e.g. vitamins, calcium, protein, etc.). A food that’s nutrient poor has a lot of “empty calories.” The calories it contains provide few or no nutritional elements to the body. To manage your weight effectively and provide your body with all the nutritional elements it requires, it’s important to favour foods that are “concentrated” in nutriments. Nutrient-dense foods are good choices, since they contain MORE nutritional elements per calorie than other foods.
