Whats better: Kyudo or Kendo?

You ask a difficult question. Kendo and kyudo are extremely different in terms of focus and types of training! Personally, I hold a black belt (1-dan) in kyudo, and a 3rd degree black belt (3-dan) in kendo and I can tell you that both arts have their own ups and downs (both arts do not run on a belt ranking system but all Japanese kyu/dan ranks can be equated to belt levels :)). Both arts, as far as martial arts run, are expensive. A cheap yumi (bow) costs around $500 and around $75 for a set of 6 arrows. A set of armor (bogu) for kendo costs at the lowest quality $300. A shinai runs anywhere from $20-$80. Kendo hakama and gi tend to cost more than kyudo hakama and gi (shirt and pants respectively) since kendogi is thicker and more durable. Kyudo gi, however, is sometimes made of high-quality material which may up the price sticker! Contrary to what nwohioguy stated, your age shouldn’t be a problem. I started kendo when I was 8 years old, and I started practicing kyudo when I was 12. K
