What types of jobs are available?
The On-Campus Work-Study jobs are as diverse as the personnel needs of the University. Clerical assistants, data entry operators, photography technicians, artists and laboratory research assistants are but a few examples. Off-campus positions with employers/agencies approved to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program offer further variety. These positions are available through non-profit organizations and are usually in areas of community service. Off-campus positions may include Photography, museum guides, public relations, editorial, research assistants, and tutors. Community Service Work-Study is a great way to make a difference in the lives of others and earn your Work-Study (WS) award at the same time. Henrico County General Government has over 400 different classifications of positions performing a wide variety of job duties. The County offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees hired in authorized positions. Henrico County accepts applications only for positions for which we are actively recruiting.
Students work in nearly every department on campus. Approximately one-third of the positions on campus are Office Assistant positions in various departments. Other types of positions available are Library Assistants, Carpenters, Kiln Supervisors, Piano Accompanists, Lab Assistants, Research Assistants, Grounds Keepers, Custodians and Computer Lab Consultants, among many others.
Jobs can be found in almost every department on-campus. A small sample of the jobs that can be found on-campus are: food service workers, lab attendants, tutor/note takers, clerical workers, custodial helpers, library workers, website developers, book store sales personnel, intramural officials, life guards, AV technicians, campus safety student parking aides, artists and many, many more.
