What to expect from boyfriend going into the Navy?

My boyfriend has been in the navy for about 8 months or so. He’s leaving sub school currently about to go surface. If he’s going sub, you’ll be pretty screwed as he’ll be gone for months at a time doing training missions. I plan on marrying my boy soon, once he goes surface. From there, I’ll follow him wherever he’s stationed. You can get housing off base. He’s given an allowance for housing once you’re married, and it’s a pretty good bit. You’ll be able to go wherever he goes, base speaking of course.

He will spend his first enlistment on sea duty which means duty on a ship on on a base overseas. The PBS Series called Carrier will give you a good idea about what a cruise is like. For you and him it will be a time of great change and growth. At the end of a cruise you may not even know him. But if you are committed to each other and are willing to work on your relationship it should be a good experience. 8 Years in the US Navy.

My husband was in the Navy. It depends on how close he’s stationed to where you live and his rate (job). Military allows 30 days leave (vacation) every year. If he’s close enough to you, take turns visiting on weekends. Good luck! Oh, and thank him for his service!
