What should students aiming for a PhD take into consideration when choosing courses?
In order to complete a PhD, it is important that you have a very strong interest in the subject, have closely followed the latest developments in the area, and be able to make a creative contribution. The courses in the Management program will hopefully clarify your particular areas of interest. On the other hand, some management fields do require advanced mathematical skills (quantitative methods used in finance, operations management, and accounting and marketing research). Therefore, it would be beneficial for students considering a PhD to evaluate their interests and skills by taking mathematics courses during undergraduate study. We strongly advise students to decide on these courses with the help of their advisors. Students may enroll in the Mathematics Minor Honors program if they wish.
