What kind of computer should a new CEE student buy?
We recommend a PC running Windows. Processor speed is less important than the amount of memory. The department uses Dell computers, and The Scholar’s Workstation (http://tsw.berkeley.edu), the campus computer store, is a Dell reseller. We strongly recommend purchasing a 3-year warranty. The CEE instructional computing labs are equipped with PCs running Windows XP. Some students use Macs, but not all the software used in CEE classes is available for Mac OS.
