What is YouthWORKS?
YouthWORKS is a summer employment program for low-income youth, ages 14 – 24 years of age. YouthWORKS is operated by Workforce Connections, a division of the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC), and is based in Knox County. Youth will generally participate in work experience for 20 – 30 hours each week. In school youth will likely participate for approximately 8 weeks during June and July 2009. Out of school youth may participate for longer periods of time; their participation may extend into August and September.
YouthWorks focuses on ministry. Their trips and the work they do are about what God will do in our lives if we allow it. They desire to be Christ centered in everything that they do. YouthWorks believes in the importance in living out the love of Christ with all whom we meet, as well as be challenged in the ministry work. The building of true relationships is essential in showing Christ’s love; the friendships you and your youth create with people in the communities are of the utmost importance. These relationships are more important to YouthWorks than any work they could accomplish. YouthWorks has all kinds of work ministry experiences that are designed to challenge teenagers. The opportunities vary from week to week and site to site, depending on the particular needs of the communities in which you serve. Everyone who participates in these work ministry projects will be divided into small teams. Teams may do various painting and rehabilitation projects, facilitate a Kids Club program
