What is wrong with BDL?
In most cases where BDL is proposed, it is done with the hopes that it will make a community safer or protect the public from dangerous dogs. However, BDL has been shown not to work because it does not address the root of the problem. BDL tends to punish the ‘breed’ and not the ‘deed’. Furthermore, taxpayers pay the brunt of enforcing ordinances that criminalize responsible pet owners and result in more dogs dying in our shelters.
