What is (WAP) and why is it so important?

WAP stands for “Wireless Application Protocol”. It is a wireless data transmission standard used by many wireless devices. (cell phones & PDA’s) The reason we should be concerned about this new technology is that there are very few security measures in place to currently deal with the sensitive information that is being transmitted every hour of every day by this method. It is imperative, that we, as mobile users, be aware that the information being exchanged is not as secure as it should be just yet. The “WAP Forum” is currently addressing these issues and expects to have a more secure means of transmitting data available sometime in the near future. Until then, be careful what you say or do over a wireless network.
