What is Volunteer Emory?
In 1980 students Debbie Genzer and Wendy Rosenberg wanted to create a central organization through which students could perform community service. The result of their efforts is Volunteer Emory. Part of Campus Life and a student-run organization, Volunteer Emory is primarily responsible for coordinating many of the service opportunities available to University students and employees. The office serves as a clearinghouse for service opportunities in the Atlanta area and a liaison between the University and its community, matching volunteers with local agencies and organizations. With 13 program coordinators, each assigned a different issue area, Volunteer Emory can help tailor a service program for you, your group or your class. All information about agencies and organizations and their volunteer opportunities is stored in resource notebooks available for browsing in the Volunteer Emory office.
