What is VoIP?
VOIP (Voice Over IP) allows you to make and receive phone calls through your high-speed Internet connection using a standard touch-tone phone. VOIP provides the same quality as a traditional phone service, but you receive more features and pay far less for calls around the world. What is a router and do I need one? A router is a network device that manages the distribution of data to and from multiple devices on that network. You may already have a router attached between a ADSL/DSL/Cable modem and a PC or you may need to purchase and install a ADSL/DSL/Cable router in your network. Most likely you will want to be able to access your computer and use your Dolphin service without disconnecting cables. A router will allow you to use both your Dolphin service and computer to surf the web and get email at the same time. Make sure that your router is ADSL/DSL/cable compatible and provides NAT (Network Address Translation) and DHCP for your network.

When you sign up, you are also given a new phone number that others can use to call you on your new IP1 VoIP Service (though you may also be able to transfer your old phone number to our VoIP Service). You will then be able to keep this phone number, no matter where or how often you move.
