What is this procmail thing I hear about? Can I use it to filter my mail?

procmail is a generalized mail filter facility which is available on most MFCF/CSCF-supported machines.A full discussion of how to use procmail is not appropriate here.At the time of writing, procmail is not invoked automatically on any MFCF/CSCF-supported machines. Consequently you must explicitly add a procmail invocation in your .forward file. Assuming you do not currently have a .forward file at all, create one containing:”|/software/procmail/bin/procmail”Note that the quotation marks shown above must be included in the file.If you already have a .forward file, then you want to make the above line replace the portion which corresponds to delivery to your normal local mailbox. In order to have procmail actually do anything special for you, you must also create in your home directory a file named .procmailrc. A discussion of the contents of that file is beyond the scope of this FAQ.
